  • A resident of the Washington Street Apartments called 9-1-1 Wednesday when she smelled something burning during a power surge. CAL-Fire with Gridley and Biggs Fire Engines responded to the Apartments, while the City's Electric crew repaired a jumper off the primary line which had burned off behind Les Schwab where electric lines are under the highway. The outage lasted less than 45 minutes but caused low voltage in several areas of town, including the apartments. No damage was reported at the Washington Street Apartments.
