Fifth Annual R.A.C.E. (Race Against Cancer Event)
Sycamore Middle School held its fifth annual R.A.C.E. on October 26. This year's golden themed event was in support of childhood cancer awareness. The special event t-shirt featured designs from Sycamore students Bertha Jauregui and Elle Spears, as well as the names of 65 families and businesses that helped to sponsor this great event. Students and staff had a fun filled afternoon that included participating in the R.A.C.E., face painting, a photo booth, pumpkin carving contest, and a lemon water stand all while raising awareness of childhood cancer. The event raised $6,395.00 for Okizu. Okizu is an organization whose mission is to provide peer support, respite, mentoring, and recreational programs to meet the needs of all members of families affected by childhood cancer. Their recreational camp facility is located in Berry Creek. Sycamore would like to thank our students and their families, our staff, the district, and our wonderful community for their continued support of this very special event.
