Graveside Services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery for Gaylord Ellis Stopplemore, 71, of Gridley, California. He passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012, at home of natural causes.
Gaylord was born June 15, 1941, in Webster City, Iowa. He was a resident of Gridley for over 50 years. He served in the US Army Active duty then Army Reserves. He was a member of the Gridley Sportmans Club, past member of the Gridley Moose Lodge, National Rifle Association. Gaylord loved hunting, fishing camping with his family, and racing. He worked at Gridley Tractor for over 17 years before opening Stopplemore Farm and Industrial for over 15 years, and then Stopplemore Trucking till retirement in 2012 due to health.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wilma and Lawrence; brothers, Dwayne and Larry; daughter, Thersa and grandson, Trent Stopplemore.
Gaylord is survived by his wife, Marlyn Stopplemore, of Gridley, California; five daughters: Donna Monroe, of Arizona, Brenda Vorues, of California, Tina Wilson, of Marysville, California, Tricia Pratt, of Gridley, California, Tracy Vaughn, of Pullman, Washington; and one son, Travis Stopplemore, of Gridley California. He is also survived by seven granddaughters, five grandsons and is expecting a first great-granddaughter.
