Steven Lester Breeding, born December 25, 1953, to Lester and Katharine Breeding in San Jose, California, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on September 25, 2012. Steve grew up on a farm in Gridley after graduating from Gridley Union High School in 1972.
Steven enlisted in the Navy where he served four years as an aeronautical technician. When he was honorably discharged from the Navy Steve completed an electronics program and was recruited by Varian in Palo Alto where he worked 31 years as a worldwide tech support engineer. His work involved frequent travel across the US and other countries where he made many friends dear to him.
Making his home in Modesto, Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing for salmon on the Feather River, playing golf and nurturing his walnut orchard in Gridley.
Steve is survived by his sons Joshua Breeding from Los Angeles, Clayton Breeding from Modesto, parents Lester and Kay Breeding, brother Bob and wife Renee, sister Patti and her husband John Wettstein, numerous extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11 a.m., at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 410 Jackson St., Gridley, CA (530) 846-4147. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 (woundedwarriorproject.org)
