In the non-conference game, the Anderson Cubs got their second win of the season by defeating the Bulldogs 49-6.

Mat Scott connected with Mikey Herrera for the Bulldogs’ only score of the game in the second quarter, but the score was 36-6 by the half.

By the end of the game, the Cubs sent the Bulldogs home with a 0-5 record after a 49-6 loss.

The Cubs racked up over 350 yards on the ground. The bulk of those yards came from Jeremiah Emershy who was just five yards shy of 200 yards. Emershy led Anderson in scoring as well with four TDs. Cubs’ QB Jason Cruickshank passed the century mark on the ground as well with 104 yards. Cruickshank was 2 for 4 with 61 yards passing. Both of his completions ended in scores for the Cubs—one to Emershy and the other to Scott Hearn. Angelo Allegretto also landed in the end zone with a four-yard score. Allegretto led the defense with nine tackles while recovering two fumbles and causing one.

So far this season, the Bulldogs have only seen the promise land twice. The first was when Mat Scott plunged the ball into the end zone for a one-yard score in Week one. They have scored a total of 14 points.

The Bulldogs have allowed opposing teams to rack up a total of 211 points this season, an average of 42.2 points allowed per game. That’s 15 touchdowns allowed to every one touchdown scored. Three out of five teams have scored 49 points against the Bulldogs, and the closest game they have played was the 26-0 shutout against Live Oak in the Harvest Bowl.

This Friday night looks promising for the Gridley Bulldogs as they look for their first win of the season against the 0-5 Oroville Tigers.

Not only is Friday night’s game a BVL match up, but it is also the Bulldogs’ homecoming night.

The match-up will be Gridley’s second conference game of the season. In Week 4, The Bulldogs were defeated 49-0 in the BVL match up against the Orland Trojans.

The Tigers are 0-2 in conference play after a 42-12 loss against the Wheatland Pirates last week. Their other BVL loss was the 28-0 shutout by the Las Plumas Thunderbirds in Week 4.

Oroville has allowed 174 points against them while only scoring 25.
