Perfumes, Pigments and Poisons an Introduction to the Chemistry of Plants. October 13, 2012. Plants have evolved a wealth of fragrances that attract pollinators and scents that repel browsing animals. Colorful pigments in flowers and bright colors in fruits attract insects and birds. This workshop is an introduction to the chemistry of plants, with a focus on plant smells, plant colors, and chemical plant defenses. Greti Sequin who has taught chemistry and is a plant enthusiast will lead this workshop. This workshop will meet from 9am to 1pm in 129 Holt Hall at CSU, Chico. Cost is $45.00.
