The Live Oak District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Meet the Candidates Night for candidates running for Live Oak City Council and the Live Oak Unified School District Board of Trustees. The event will be held Thursday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Live Oak Community Center.
There are two available seats on the City Council. The incumbent candidates are current Mayor Gary Baland and current councilman Rob Klotz. Farmer and realtor, Lakhvir Ghag, is also running for a position on council with current Planning Commissioner Jason Banks, and community manager Imelda Tejeda.
With three seats available on the Live Oak Unified School District Board of Trustees, the incumbents running are David Owen, and Terry Jones. Independent businessman, Scott Davis, banker, Doug Marr, CPA, Kathy Walker, and farmer, Clayton Goodman are also running for the available seats.
Each candidate will have an introduction period, asked a question related to their view and/or reason for running for the position, according to Annette Bertolini, president and treasurer of the Live Oak Chamber of Commerce. They then will be given an opportunity for a closing statement. After closing statements are finished there will be a question & answer period from the audience.
