A Graveside service will be held on Friday September 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery for Ransom Pierce Banks, 90, of Gridley. Ransom passed away at his home on Saturday September 1, 2012.
He was born April 24, 1922 in Los Angeles, California.
He was a long time resident of Gridley, having worked many years as a carpenter. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing card games, travel, camping, bird watching, cooking, wood working and reading. He was a 40 year member of Carpenter’s Union and former member of the Moose Lodge and VFW in the Bay area. He served in the US Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by two sons, Bill Banks (Dee), of Los Banos, California, David Banks, of Brigham City, Utah; two daughters, Linda Banks, of Occidental, California, Susan (Michael) Kehoe, of Biggs, California. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister Eron (Don) Vestnys, of San Francisco.
Interment will be at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
Family suggests contributions to the VFW or Sutter North Hospice.
Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
