Mark Sorensen, of Chico, has replaced Pete Carr as the City of Biggs Administrator.
Mark Sorensen is looking forward to helping the City of Biggs and being a part of great things.
As the new City Administrator, Sorensen will be involved in finishing the General Plan Update and will manage the City's own sewer, water and electric utilities.
Growing up in Chico, Sorensen, he has been married to his wife Kammie for 30 years. The couple has three daughters and one grandchild.
Most recently he has owned and operated ACC Satellite while serving as a Chico City Councilman where he has two more years to serve.
When asked how he has has enjoyed his time on the Council, he replied, “It has been a real rapid learning experience, like drinking water from a firehose!”
After working at a University in San Diego, Sorensen worked for RCA as a technician and later as a manager. He stayed four years after General Electric bought out RCA. The Sorensen's returned to Chico to start their satellite business, which they have owned 22 years and are very happy to be back in Butte County.
Both he and his wife are the fifth generation to live in this area – both families dating back to the 1850's.
In his rare time off, Sorensen enjoys gardening and mountain bike riding.
He served as a board member for Catalyst 14 years, nine of those as Treasurer. He has served on the Chico Chamber of Commerce as a board member.
“I am very excited to be a part of Biggs. It is a great opportunity to help the economy get moving,” Sorensen stated.
