Teams have held their fund raisers, decorated their places of business and exercised to be ready for the first-ever Gridley Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society Saturday and Sunday.
The 24-hour event will be held at Gridley High School's Track and teams are: Round Table Pizza and Optimum Mortgage, Gridley Recreation Department, Quota Club of Gridley, Gridley Fitness, Women of the Moose, Les Schwab Tire, WKD Electric, Nacho's Electric, Gold Country Bank and Gridley Rotary Club, so far.
The goal for this event is $20,000 and no doubt this community will raise this amount plus more. Anyone who would like to participate or just come to watch the fun is encouraged to just show up. You don't have to be on a team to walk the track. Come see what the different teams have done for their booths and how some are staying awake for the early morning hours, quite possibly sleep walking.
This will be a great time while money is being raised for a very serious disease. Survivors are encouraged to come participate and receive a free t-shirt. Rocking chairs will be available for those who want to help but can't walk the track.
