The Gridley Gators recently competed in the two-day 12 team Orland Otter Survivor Invitational, and several fine performances were turned in by the Gators. The Gators team finished third in the overall standings for the weekend, behind the Chico Aqua jets and the Otters.
Winners of individual events included Kennison Cota, competing in the girls 6U division, who won seven events and placed second in another for the Gators. Tino Sormano, competing in the boys 7-8 division, captured four firsts, two seconds, and a sixth place. Brigham Lessard, competing in the boys 9-10 division took home six first place ribbons and a third place as well. Rya Andes, competing in the girls 6U, won the 50 Breast, took second in 100 Free, third in the 25 Breast, fourth in both the 25 Fly and 25 Free, fifth in the 50 Back and 50 Free, and sixth in the 25 Back.
Other strong performers for the Gators included Brooklyn Facey, competing in the girls 15-16 division. Facey took third in both the 200 Back and 200 Breast, fourth in the 100 Free and 200 IM, fifth in the 100 Breast, sixth in the 100 Fly, seventh in the 200 Free, and eighth in the 100 Back.
Alyra Andes, competing in the girls 9-10 division, took third in the 100 Fly, fourth in the 50 Breast, fifth in the 200 IM, sixth in the 100 Free, seventh in the 50 Free, eighth in the 200 Free, ninth in the 100 Breast, and 10th in the 50 Fly.
Ryan King, competing in the Boys 15-16 division, took fifth in the 200 Back, 100 Back, 100 Fly, and sixth in the 200 IM, 100 Breast, 100 Free, 200 Free, and the 50 Free.
Other swimmers faring well included Jack Becker in the boys 13-14 division placing fourth in the 200 Breast, fifth in the 200 Free, sixth in the 100 Breast, eighth in the 100 Free, and ninth in the 50 Free. Cash Mills, competing in the Boys 7-8 division, took third in the 25 Free, fourth in the 50 Back, and sixth in the 100 Free. Gracie Gonzalez took second in the 7-8 Girls 50 Breast, and fourth in the 25 Breast, while Amanda Young took second in the Girls 13-14 200 Fly, fifth in the 100 Fly, and eighth in the 200 IM. Emmet Smallwood in the Boys 6U placed fifth in the 50 Free, sixth in the 25 Free, ninth in the 25 Back. Phoenix Brynnan took fifth in the Girls 6U 100 Free. Samantha Smith took third in the 200 Back and seventh in the 200 Breast in the 11-12 division. Jayden Punzo took fourth in the boys 7-8 100 Free.
