  • Ethel Pauline Averett, 90 passed away May 16, 2012.
Ethel was born on September 11, 1921.  She was a long time member of the Live Oak Assembly of God Church (Now, The Father's House).  There she taught a Junior Girls Sunday School class for many years.  She was very active in the Women's Ministries group and always looked forward to their weekly meetings.  Many handmade quilts were stitched together by those beautiful ladies.  It was difficult for her, as her health declined to not be able to continue doing the things she so loved to do.  She loved being with her family and certainly adored all her grandchildren.  She was special to each of them, also.
She lived with her daughter Janice Hutcherson, near Fortuna, California since July 2010.  Following a broken hip surgery, she became a resident at Fortuna Rehabilitation and Wellness Center and remained there for the past eight months.  Thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of our mother.  She liked all of you!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Averett, her parents, two brothers and three sisters, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
She is survived by her five children: Janice (Paul) Hutcherson, of Rio Dell, California, Leon (Betty) Averett, of Live Oak, California, Patricia (Bob) Doughtie, of Pueblo, Colorado, Robert (Claudine) Averett, of Mascoutah, Illinois, and Barbara (Gary) Davidson, of Gridley, California.  She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, and eight-step-great-great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life was held Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Live Oak Cemetery.
