Funeral services will be held for Harold W. McLlean, 80, of Gridley, on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the Church oF Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Spruce Street, in Gridley.
Harold passed away Thursday May 3, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 2, 1931, in Yuba County to Will and Ella McLean. A short time later the family moved to the Manzanita area east of Gridley. It was there that Harold would call home most of his life. Harold attended local schools, graduating from Gridley High School. After high school, he attended Cal Poly and Yuba College. In 1951 he married Linda Hepworth.
Harold was a life long farmer having grown peaches, prunes, walnuts, and row crops. He also raised registered swine for breeding, and won countless Champions throughout the state of California. Harold also owned and operated a Feed Store in Gridley for many years, and was a Purina Feeds Field Rep for several years.
He was a member of the CA Canning Peach Association, (for several years was the recipient of the highest quality award.) He was also a member of the Farm Bureau.h He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed sharing stories of outings with his family and friends. Harold's greatest love in life was his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in many callings, including being a member of the Gridley First and Third Ward Bishoprics.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Virginia Blinn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Linda McLean, of Gridley; three sons: Mike McLean and wife Loreen, of Gridley, Mark McLean, of Gridley, and Chris McLean and wife Lori, of El Dorado Hills; one daughter Sue Orme and husband Mark, also of Gridley. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel in Gridley. Interment will be at Gridley Biggs Cemetery.
Bishop Justin Tolman of the Gridley Third Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will conduct the services.
Contributions to the Family History Center are suggested by the family, and may be left in care of Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Biggs Funeral Chapel.
