A Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, located on Spruce Street, Gridley, for Alvin D. Richins Sr. 88 of Gridley, California. He passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Oroville Hospital, Oroville, California.
Alvin was born May 6, 1923 in Gridley, California. He was a life long resident of Gridley having owned and operated Richins Tucking. He also farmed rice for many years. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World Ward II and was stationed overseas. He was a life long member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints having served in many callings. He was also a member of the VFW. Alvin was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dorothy Rae Richins, seven brothers and one sister.
Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Laura Richins of Gridley, California; two sons: Alvin Richins of Oroville, California and Jimmy Richins of Nor Dakota; and four daughters: Pennie Hopkins of South Jordan, Utah, Janice Busch of Stockton, California, Patsy Dewsnup of Gridley, California and Lisa Hunter of Gridley, California; One step-son, David Barney of Palermo, California and three step-daughters: Alicia Blood of Southern California, Lorie Akard of Oroville, California and Deanna Benton of Oklahoma. He is also survived by two brothers: Harold Richins of Chico, California and Melvin Richins of Gridley, California; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held Friday, April 13, 2012 at 9 a.m. at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints Relief Society Room, located on Spruce Street, Gridley.
Brother Jim Brown of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints will officiate at the services.
Interment will be held at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
Contributions to the VFW are suggested by the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
