Leland “Lee” M. Pearce was born June 30, 1929 in Chico, California, and passed away January 23, 2012 at home in El Dorado, California, surrounded by his loving family. Son of Agnes and Cloyd Pearce of Durham, California (now deceased). Lee attended school in Durham; graduated from Chico State University in 1952 with a Bachelor and Masters Degrees.

Son of Agnes and Cloyd Pearce of Durham, California (now deceased). Lee attended school in Durham; graduated from Chico State University in 1952 with a Bachelor and Masters Degrees. He served as an officer in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. Lee taught at La Sierra High School in Carmichael, California for three years. He entered the Aerospace industry and while at Aerojet he helped train the launch crew at Cape Canaveral Florida for the Minuteman 3 stage rocket- it was the first successful launch where all three stages performed perfectly. After retirement he and his family owned a Western Auto/True Value store in Gridley, California where he was a member of Gridley Rotary; President of Gridley Chamber of Commerce and he was instrumental in starting the down town Gridley Improvement Project. Lee was selected as Gridley’s Man of the Year in 1974. In 1976 Lee joined Electrophysics in Folsom, California. Electrophysics developed medical ultra sound which was later sold to General Electric’s medical division. He continued with GE until 1985 when he joined his family owned business, Little Folks University, a preschool, day care center and private school, located in Folsom, California.
Lee loved the outdoors, especially the family’s mountain property and cabin; traveling to Arkansas to our Ozark cabin and visiting with loving family and dear friends on Promise Land Road.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ima, his wonderful children: son Steven Lee Pearce (Lisa) of North Bend WA, daughters Pamela Joy Kirby (Kevin) of Fair Oaks, California, and Valeri Leanne Bonner (Glenn) of El Dorado, California; his greatly loved grandchildren: Keegan Kirby (Keira) of Fair Oaks, Cameron Lee Kirby of Winters California, Mathew Pearce of Bellingham, Washington, Jory Pearce of Issaquah, Washington and Shayna Lee Bonner of El Dorado; he was so proud of his three great grandchildren: Kellen, Kaiden Lee and Kelsey Kirby of Fair Oaks; his “chosen” daughters Leslie Northrop of North Bend, Washington, and Sharon Kulbacki of Sand, Utah; and his special long time friends Pat and Howard Gordon and family of Sacramento. Lee is also survived by his sister, Doreen Ferdani (Larry) of Sutter Creek, his brother, Robert Pearce (Shanda) of Yankee Hill and his loving nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. He will be missed by his many friends and relatives throughout the U.S.
