  • Private Services were held for Richard Story Bowling, 89 of Biggs, California.  He passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at his residence in Biggs.  
    Richard was born August 25, 1922 in Burley, Idaho.  He was a long time resident of Butte County and a life long member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints.  He enjoyed Family History Research and fishing.  He was a master gardener and had a strong work ethic, having worked two jobs all his life.  He served in the US Army during World War II and received his draft notice on his 20th birthday.  He was stationed in the Pacific and served with the Occupation Force in Japan.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Drucilla Bowling; three brothers; one sister; and one great-grandson, Ryan C. Lewis.
    Richard is survived by one daughter, Sharron L. Bowling of Biggs, CA; and two sons: Gordon L. (Ranae) Bowling of Afton, Wyoming and Bruce D. (Alicia) Bowling of Gridley, California.  He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
    Private Interment was held at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
    Contributions to the Family History Center of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints are suggested by the family.
    Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
