A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel for Chester A. Pike, 89, of Biggs, California.  He passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Enloe Medical Center in Chico of natural causes.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel for Chester A. Pike, 89, of Biggs, California.  He passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Enloe Medical Center in Chico of natural causes.

Chester was born June 7, 1920 in Stroud, Oklahoma.  He was a long time resident of Biggs and a former resident of Richmond, California.  He worked many years as a custodian for De Anza High School.  He enjoyed tinkering with things and could repair almost anything.  He also enjoyed ballroom dancing.  He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippians.  He was a member of the Loyal Order of The Moose, Gridley No. 1594.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Pike; one daughter, Nancy Lynch; his parents; three brothers and one sister.

He is survived by one son, Ronald Pike and wife, Nancy of Reno, Nevada and one daughter, Linda Moczskowsi of Reno, Nevada.  He is also survived by one brother, Ivan Pike of Rancho Cordova, CA and one sister Beatrice Simmons of Gridley, CA; seven grandchildren and w0 great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Matthew Squires will officiate at the services.

Interment will be held at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
