The Biggs volleyball team earned their second win of the season and of the past four games when they edged out the Paradise Adventist Academy Cougars in five games on Thursday (15-25, 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 17-15).

The Biggs volleyball team earned their second win of the season and of the past four games when they edged out the Paradise Adventist Academy Cougars in five games on Thursday (15-25, 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 17-15).

Ruby Acevedo led the Wolverines with three kills, while Nancy Duran had two and Brenda Acevedo had one.

Neika Epple had two of Biggs' six aces, with Kayla Hawes, Veronica Aguilera, Crystal Acosta and Karen Mendieta chipping in one each.

Hawes had all three of the Wolverines blocks.

The two recent wins gives the Lady Wolverines a record of 2-7 as they get closer to get league play.

East Nicolaus 3, Live Oak 0
The Lady Lions fell in straight games on Thursday (14-25, 13-25, 10-25) to snap a three-game winning streak and fall to 6-4 overall.

Granite Bay 2, Gridley 0
In their first game of the Carmichael Tournament, the Lady?Bulldogs lost in two games to the Grizzlies.

Sheena Ruggirello led the team with four kills. McKenna Cox had two blocks.

Del Norte 2, Gridley 0
Kacy Blenn recorded four kills and Cox had three in the girls’ second game.

Gridley 2, Fort Bragg 0
Gridley had their best game of the tournament against the Timberwolves, winning both games (25-13, 25-17).

Cox had six kills and Blenn had four. Teryn Mathews had three of the girls’ seven aces.
Cox again had two blocks.

Eureka 2, Gridley 1
The Lady Bulldogs nearly won their final tournament game (25-8, 23-25, 5-15), but fall to 8-8 this season including tournaments.

The girls had 26 kills in the game, seven by Cox and five by Ruggirello and Blenn.
Ruggirello had four of the team’s seven aces.

Tennis

Live Oak 8, Willows 1
The Live Oak girls tennis team (9-2) is still unbeaten in the Sacramento Valley League (3-0) after Thursday's 8-1 win over the Honkers.

In singles, Jennifer DeWitt (6-1, 6-1), Daniela Dumitras (6-3, 7-5), Alora Sutcliffe (6-4, 6-1), Fermina Chavez (6-0, 6-1) and Melissa Anderson (6-1, 6-0) each won.

Live Oak swept the doubles matches, with DeWitt and Dumitras winning 8-0, Sutcliffe and Chavez winning 8-2, and Anderson and Lucero Topete winning 8-4.
