The first meeting of the new season was hostessed by Mary Ann Boeger at the  Cottage Mercantile on September 1, 2009.  Beautiful displays of table top pieces gave color and interest in products available in the fall season.

Nancy Schouten, President, lead in opening, conducted old and new business on the calendar and then lead in the closing ceremony.

Program chairman Mary Ann Boeger introduced Jeanne Hart, proprietor of the Cottage Mercantile, who welcomed the members.  She gave a history of her store, which began 24 years ago.  She has shared her space with other enterprises.  This has provided the public with additional products to serve their needs.  She is increasing her clothing line and offering more functional gift items.

The program continued with Nancy Schouten demonstrating the different ways to change the look of a basic garment Nancy was wearing, which was a beige sweater and pants.  She used a ruffled scarf to add femininity to the outfit.  Also for a change, she pinned a silk flower in striking colors and another choice, was the new popular use of feathers on a jeweled pin.  When the weather is turning cooler, a vest or jacket is a practical choice.

Dessert was served with time for friends reviewing their summer break.
