Harold E. Kimbrough, 82, of Gridley, California, formerly of Redding, California, passed away January 24, 2009 after a long hard fought battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Harold E. Kimbrough, 82, of Gridley, California, formerly of Redding, California, passed away January 24, 2009 after a long hard fought battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born on September 17, 1926, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, he graduated High School in Susanville, California and went on to earn his degree in Architecture at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  Harold dedicated many years to the field of architecture, first working for the State of California and then on to complete many Design/Build projects after acquiring his General Contractor’s license.  His contribution to his community was vast.  He was a member of the Asphalt Cowboys, of Redding, California which he truly enjoyed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maryland, his father, James and his son, Johnny.
His is survived by his devoted wife, Sheri, of 30 years, his beloved sister, Garneth “Sally” Chipley (Chuck), of Redding, California; his two sons: Bruce (Jo Ann) Kimbrough, of Tracy, California and Dick Kimbrough, of Redding, California; three daughters: Carrie Buttacovoli (Bruce), of Marysville, California; Janet Elson (Steve), of Redondo Beach, California and Penny Amos (Jerry), of Gridley, California.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service in honor of his life will be held Friday, January 30, 2009, at 2 p.m., at Gridley Biggs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Sutter North Hospice, 826 4th Street, Marysville, California 95901.

Arrangements are under the care of Holycross Memorial in Yuba City.
