Writing a grant proposal is not as hard as it seems. This workshop is designed for those who feel intimidated by the thought of writing a grant proposal. Doing a little research, following the guidelines and writing to the criteria should make for a winning proposal.  This workshop will go over the basic elements of a good grant proposal, tips and techniques, and making a compelling argument for funding.  The basic outline of a proposal will be described, and examples shown.
In addition, participants will learn about researching grant sources and evaluating the readiness of their organization for grant funding. This training will clarify participants’ understanding of the pitfalls of grant funding so they can make better decisions on whether they should pursue these funds.

The January 23 class, “Telling Your Story- Marketing Your Non-profit”, is for staff and volunteers of nonprofit organizations that want to increase their visibility in the community. Many organizations become known as "the community's best kept secret". Tell your story!  Effective marketing is the key to getting your story out into the community.  The key to effective marketing is a plan.  For many non-profits, marketing happens only occasionally and is limited to local newspaper and television advertising.  Participants will learn marketing strategies and how to develop a marketing plan and campaign, to change that "best kept secret" into "the community's best resource".

The goal of the trainings offered by the Nonprofit Leadership Institute is to help organizations fulfill their missions in sustainable ways. The Nonprofit Leadership Institute is a program of North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF).
