A nursing home comparison is available for those looking for long-term care options offering Medicare and Medicade across the country.


    By simply entering a zip code and designating how many miles per search, for example within 10 miles or 25 miles, family members can see where area nursing homes rate as far as health inspections, nursing home staffing and quality measures. The survey also lists program participation and the number of certified beds.


    Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital's Hovlid Skilled Nursing Unit is listed "Above Average" (four stars out of five) for both Health Inspections and Nursing Home Staffing. They rated "Much Above Average" (five stars, the highest,) for Quality Measures.


    Evergreen Health Care rated "Above Average" for Quality Measures while rating Below Average" for Health Inspections and Nursing Home Staffing.
    Oroville Hospital ECU was rated with three stars out of five for health inspections and Nursing Home Staffing and five out of five stars for Quality Measures.


    Live Oak Manor was listed as "Much Below Average" for Health Inspections and Nursing Home Staffing with the rating of "Below Average" for Quality Measures.

Only one facility was listed as having been selected for more frequent inspections and monitoring, that being Yuba City Care Center.


    There are over 180 regulatory standards that certified nursing home must meet covering a wide range of topics, from inadequate care, medication management done properly, resident protection from physical or mental abuse to the safe storage and preparation of food.


    Trained inspectors visit each facility, including at least one registered nurse. These inspections occur at least once a year, unless the facility is performing badly.
