A 16-year-old Live Oak boy was shot during a drive-by shooting on Larkin Road in Live Oak on Tuesday, injuring his forearm and abdominal area, said Sutter County Sgt. Greg Zembiec.
The boy, who couldn't be identified because he's a minor, was taken to Rideout Memorial Hospital, where surgery removed the bullet. Zembiec said he believed the boy was in critical but stable condition.

The Sutter County Sheriff's Department received two emergency calls of shots fired on the 9700 block of Larkin Road around 4 p.m. One caller estimated there were four to six shots fired, while another said three to four.

There were others outside in the same yard at the time, but none were shot.
The vehicle is described as a late '90s model gold Toyota or Acura. Zembiec said three people were confirmed to be in the car - two males and one female - and it's suspected that there was also a second female inside. It was seen headed southbound toward Live Oak Blvd. after the shooting.

Zembiec said the shooting is suspected to be gang related, but it's still undetermined. Officers are still gathering leads and the crime is still under investigation.
