The Division IV team was 21-9 overall last year, with a 9-5 Bay Shore League record. It was good enough for them to reach the playoffs, where they went 2-2, beating Piedmont High School twice and losing to Kennedy High School twice in the league playoffs and North Coast playoffs.

Salesian, out of Richmond, is returning eight players from last season, and four starters. The team is led by young players, including two freshmen and a sophomore.
Freshman Jabari Brown averaged 14 points, three rebounds and four assists per game last year. Fellow freshman Kendall Andrews averaged seven points, six rebounds and one assist.

Sophomore Desmond Simmons averaged 14 points, seven reounds and two assists per game, while senior Justin Brown averaged 14 points, two rebounds and four assists.

Simmons and Jabari Brown, along with Freddie Tagaloa, Dominic Artis, Quincy Smith and Bryce Thompson, are all being recruited by Division I colleges. Simmons, now a junior, is the oldest among them. Tagaloa and Artis are freshmen, and the rest are sophomores.

So while the J.V. team was 14-12 last year, the best players at Salesian already have varsity experience.

In 2005-2006, the Pride were the league and section champions, as well as the Nor-Cal Division IV runner-ups. They have currently won 20 or more games in each of the past 10 seasons.

The success of Salesian High School in the past decade has led to the success of some players after high school. David Jobe was a 2001 graduate who played at UC Riverside. He's now a Salesian teacher and assistant coach for the varsity team. Justin Brown, who graduated last year, is playing at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

In 2003, Salesian took 5th place and in 2004 they took 3rd.

The GIBT begins the second weekend of December.
