Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, for George Wesley Carlquist, Sr., 69, who passed away on August 25, 2008, in Solano County.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, for George Wesley Carlquist, Sr., 69, who passed away on August 25, 2008, in Solano County.


He was born on September 26, 1938, in Sacramento, California, and was a long time resident of Gridley, having driven truck for Mariani Packing Co. for over 40 years.  He also enjoyed gardening, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He had a strong work ethic, and loved cutting wood.  He loved his dog Bella.


He was preceded in death by his wife Anne Carlquist, and one daughter, Cynthia Boges.


He is survived by three sons: Raymond Boges, of Biggs, George Carlquist Jr. and Steven Carlquist, both of Gridley; three daughters: Kathy Neeley, of Gridley, Charlotte Doherty, of Oroville, and Caroline Edwards, of Gridley; two brothers: Ernest Carlquist and Fred Carlquist, both of Gridley; two sisters: Caroline Murad, of Oroville and Marvella Duncan, of San Jose, and 17 grandchildren.


Rev. Rick Cunningham will officiate at the services.


Inurnment will be private.


Contributions to the Arthritis Foundation are suggested by the family and may be left at the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel which is entrusted with the services.
