The Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary executive board met with BGMH Director of Social Services Kirsten Storne Piazza Friday morning in a specially called meeting to hear how they could help the BGMH Foundation raise funds to return control of the hospital to local governance.

Besides some writing their own personal checks, the board agreed to hold a raffle to award a brand new generator donated by Dr. and Mrs. Albert Nielsen. The generator still has the price tag of $4000 on it, having never been removed from the box. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10 and can be purchased at the Auxiliary Desk at the hospital, The Gridley Herald, Ace Hardware, The Wishing Corner and the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds of the raffle will be donated to the foundation by the Auxiliary.

The Auxiliary executive board also voted to move the date of their annual Fall Luncheon to September 16, 2008, instead of October, in order to make members aware of the need for tax deductible donations to the hospital's foundation.

The $250,000 needed is just one of the stipulations for local control to return in order to satisfy FRHG and the Attorney General.

In a front page article in the Friday, August 22, 2008 Gridley Herald, it was reported that FRGH will close the doors December 31, 2008 and plans to place an outpatient center in Gridley with no Emergency Room. This would mean an ambulance service would be a thing of the past , as an ambulance will not stop here without a hospital. Anyone involved in a traffic accident would have to be transported out of town.

Please support the Auxiliary and the hospital in this very important fund raiser.  The winner will be announced October 4, 2008 during the Hospital Foundation's Annual Fund Raising Dinner at Tuscan Ridge Golf Course, entitled, "Sunset on the Ridge." Proceeds will go towards the "Save Our Hospital" campaign.
